Roing: A team of 25 fish farmers from Lower Dibang Valley has been flagged off for a three-day training programme at the Integrated Aqua Park in Ziro. The flag-off ceremony was jointly conducted by NABARD AGM Nitya Mili and KVK Senior Scientist Deepanjali Deori.
This exposure visit has been sanctioned by the NABARD Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office, Itanagar, under the Capacity Adoption Technology (CAT) programme. It is being implemented by the Kalong-Kapili NGO in collaboration with KVK Lower Dibang Valley.
Spread over more than seven hectares, the Integrated Aqua Park is surrounded by lush greenery and seasonal flowers.
Some of its key facilities include an aqua museum, raceways, RAS, biofloc systems, a retail fish market, a brood bank, hatcheries for indigenous fish, a disease diagnostic and quality testing lab, a fish feed mill, a training-cum-conference hall, an ice plant with cold storage, a value addition unit, a refrigerated vehicle, an aqua farmer extension support centre, and the Matsya Seva Kendra. The visit aims to train farmers in integrated and advanced aquaculture techniques while enhancing their capacity in fish farming.
The programme will cover a wide range of topics, including the integrated aquaculture concept, fish broodstock management, induced fish breeding, high-yield fish varieties, seed rearing stages (from spawn to fingerling), stunted yearling fish seed banks, and innovative fisheries programmes.
This initiative is expected to significantly benefit fish farmers by equipping them with modern aquaculture knowledge and best practices.
