Arunachal: Mrs Siang winners named brand ambassadors for anti-drug campaign

The winners and runners-up of Mrs Siang 2025 have been appointed as brand ambassadors for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) in Arunachal Pradesh.

ITANAGAR: The East Siang district women and child development (WCD) department in Arunachal Pradesh, has appointed the winner and runners-up of Mrs Siang 2025 as brand ambassadors for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) under the SJETA scheme for the year 2025–2026.

As part of the campaign, a one-day drug demand reduction awareness programme was successfully organised at the observation cum special home on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, ICDS deputy director M Gao, who is also the nodal officer of NMBA, emphasised the dangers of drug abuse, including mental health issues, serious physical illnesses, cancer risks, and the breakdown of families and communities.

She also acknowledged the contributions of chairperson Bedum Situng NGO and other local organisations for their efforts in combating substance abuse. The event saw active participation from Mrs Siang winner Jenny Pinggam Gaduk, 1st runner-up Amoni Diru Pullom, and 2nd runner-up Bisonty Lego Tayeng.

Addressing the inmates of the Child Care Institution (CCI), they encouraged youth to stay away from drugs and join hands in building a healthy, drug-free East Siang and Arunachal Pradesh.
