Arunachal Pradesh Police Seize Cannabis Worth Rs 1.33 Crore in West Kameng

WEST KAMENG: In a major operation, authorities in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district have confiscated cannabis valued at around Rs 1.33 crore. The raid occurred in Betchilling village within the Kalaktang police station jurisdiction, where 1,654.22 kg of cannabis was confiscated, Superintendent of Police Sudhansu Dhama said.

He reported that the recovery consisted of 108 rectangular packages weighing 10 kg each and 33 gunny bags totaling 574.22 kg. Additionally, specialized equipment was confiscated, including a 50-ton hydraulic piston jack used for compressing cannabis, a modified iron trunk and iron frame, and a modified weighing machine.

These materials were used to compress, package, and conceal the cannabis for easier transportation, he added. A case was registered, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved in cannabis smuggling, police said.

Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Police, under its Operation Dawn 2.0 initiative, have apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 22.9 grams of heroin worth Rs 60,000 from their possession, a senior police officer said.

Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo on Sunday said the two were arrested from their residence in Nyigam Colony, near here. He said police were alerted about two individuals allegedly possessing heroin and selling it to local youths.

Acting promptly, a police team led by Naharlagun police station officer-in-charge Krishnendu Dev under the supervision of SP Gambo and Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo conducted an operation.
