YINGKIONG: A teacher from Siang Valley School in Tuting, Upper Siang district, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl studying in Class 8.
The Upper Siang SP, Token Saring, confirmed that on January 5 at around 6:40 pm, the Tuting police station received a written FIR from the victim’s mother, claiming her daughter had been subjected to sexual abuse, rape, torture, and threats by her teacher.
Following the complaint, police arrested the accused and remanded him in custody after completing legal formalities. “A case has been registered at the Tuting police station for further investigation,” stated SP Saring. Although there were initial protests from relatives and the public, the situation is now under control, and law and order have returned to normal.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, A 13-year-old girl from the Jalukbari area in Guwahati, Assam, has reportedly been abducted and raped by four individuals. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding safety and security in the area.
Reports indicate that on January 1, the girl was taken by four individuals from Kailashpur, Jalukbari, to a nearby hotel, where she was allegedly gang-raped.
The accused, who are reportedly residents of Sundarbari, later left the girl abandoned near her home. The girl's family lodged a police complaint after she was found, prompting the Jalukbari police to initiate an investigation.
Two of the accused, identified as minors, have been apprehended by the police, while the other two are still at large. The police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and are conducting further investigations.
