Police Busts Drug Network in Arunachal Pradesh, Arrests Two Peddlers

In a successful operation, Arunachal Pradesh police busted a drug network and arrested two individuals, seizing a significant quantity of narcotics in the process.

ITANAGAR: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the anti-drug squad (ADS) of East Siang Police in Arunachal Pradesh, arrested two drug peddlers and seized 2.317 kg of narcotic substances in a well-coordinated operation. The effort is part of the police's ongoing mission to combat the drug menace and achieve a drug-free district. Acting on credible intelligence about a habitual drug user in the 2-Mile area who regularly sourced ganja and heroin from Silapathar, the East Siang Police launched an operation on Friday. The ADS quickly mobilized a team led by Inspector Ige Lollen, officer-in-charge of Pasighat Police Station. The team also included SI K Tangha, ASI R Lowang, SI (SG) A K Deka, constables T Ragyor and O Modi. The operation was supervised by DSP Ayup Boko, under the overall guidance of East Siang superintendent of police (SP) Pankaj Lamba, an official statement said on Saturday. The first suspect, Dhananjey Saha, a driver, was apprehended at his residence. During interrogation, Saha revealed that he procured ganja from a woman in Silapathar and agreed to assist the police in locating her.

A controlled delivery operation, conducted with the assistance of Dhemaji Police, led to the arrest of Junmoni Das near the Rail Gate in Silapathar. A subsequent search of her residence resulted in the recovery of 2.317 kg of suspected ganja, a digital weighing machine, and a smart phone. A case has been registered at Pasighat police station under NDPS Act. East Siang Police has reiterated its commitment to fighting the drug menace and urged citizens to report any drug-related activities to help create a drug-free district.
