DOOMDOOMA: The 58th foundation day of Doomdooma College, a pioneer educational institution under Dibrugarh University (DU), was celebrated in the presence of educationists, social workers, and students of the area. The programme got underway with hoisting of the flag by Prakash Dutta, President, Governing Body (GB) and Principal Dr Kamaleshwar Kalita.

After the flag hoisting, a tree plantation programme was initiated by Jiten Deka, the second son of the founding Secretary of the college, Jogendra Nath Deka (now deceased). In the evening, 58 lamps were lit in the premises of the college.

The event was attended by Dhiren Deka, prominent journalist and eldest son of founding Secretary Late Jogendra Nath Deka, alumnus Manjit Singh, and others. In the opening ceremony held at Kallol auditorium of the college, Principal Dr Kamaleshwar Kalita welcomed the guests. The college has been able to occupy a distinct place in the field of education as well as in sports, he said, and added that the teachers and staff of the college would always continue their efforts to move forward in keeping with the demands of the time.
