A CORRESPONDENT
HAFLONG: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa, recently demonstrated how a single act of kindness can uplift and transform lives. While travelling through Jatinga on his way to Maibang, Gorlosa noticed a group of women selling their renowned Jatinga oranges and other vegetables on the open Jatinga Bridge. These devoted sellers had been working outside in the blazing sun and pouring rain, and their perseverance was evidence of their willpower. Moved by their plight, Gorlosa resolved to bring about a change that would offer them much-needed relief.
The vendors discovered beautifully crafted vending stalls made of iron, each with a sturdy roof to shield them from harsh weather. These new stalls, thoughtfully designed for twelve vendors, are more than just a shelter—they represent a beacon of hope and dignity for these hard-working women. Gorlosa’s compassionate intervention has not only improved their working conditions but has also restored their sense of pride and security.
This act of kindness by the CEM is a powerful reminder of the difference that a considerate leader can make in the lives of the underprivileged. It underscores the importance of recognizing and addressing the everyday struggles faced by many in our communities. In a world where distrust and indifference often prevail, such gestures of genuine care and support bring hope and inspire others to act with empathy.
As the lady vendors of Jatinga Bridge smile beneath their new stalls, they embody the ripple effect of a single noble act. Gorlosa’s gesture has not only provided immediate relief but has also fostered a sense of community and solidarity. It is a poignant example of how leadership, when guided by compassion, can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
