ABSU hails initiative to unveil Bodofa UN Brahma’s statue in New Delhi

ABSU on Wednesday praised the Government of India’s initiative to unveil Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma’s statue in New Delhi on May 1.

KOKRAJHAR: The All- Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Wednesday hailed the initiative of the Government of India to unveil the statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma at UN Brahma Marg, Lala Lajpat Rai in New Delhi on May 1. The ABSU also vehemently condemned the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday and urged the Government of India to act tough against the terrorists.

In a press meet held at Bodofa House, here, President of ABSU Dipen Boro said, “We condemn the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir in the strongest terms and demand that the Government of India should respond to the attack with firm hands.” He said that adequate compensation should be given to the family members of those killed in the attack.

As announced earlier by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the 35-metre wide and a part of 850-metre-long Lala Lajpat Rai Road would be named as Bodofa UN Brahma Road and the statue of Bodofa UN Brahma would be unveiled by Shah on May 1 on the occasion of his death anniversary in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BTC Chief Pramod Boro, and dignitaries. He said that 5 lakh earthen lamps would be lit on the occasion of Bodofa’s death anniversary on May 1 everywhere. He also said that the vision of establishing Bodofa’s name worldwide is going to be a reality as his statue would be unveiled in the national capital and a stretch of road named as Bodofa Marg on May 1 at Lala Lajpat Rai Road. He thanked the Government of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for taking due initiative in the name of Bodofa UN Brahma.
