Haflong: The 32nd foundation day of Ghoroa, a non-profit organization based at Lumding working throughout the district of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, was observed in a befitting manner here at Lumding on Thursday.
The day's programe started with the flag hoisting by founder president of Ghoroa, Ashish Dey in presence of huge gathering of members and well-wishers of Ghoroa.
Swapan Kar, former MLA of Lumding, while attending the event as the chief guest, inaugurated the public meeting and discussion with the senior citizens of Lumding. All the speakers appreciated the activities of the Ghoroa in humanitarian needs and wished the organization to work for ever for the cause of human needs. The speakers also dwelt at length on the brief journey of the organization. Chief guest Kar said, "We are really in need of such selfless and dedicated organizations for the overall development of the society."
Talking to media, founder president Ashis Dey assured the people of Dima Hasao who suffered a lot during the recent flood and landslides in the district, to extend their support for all-round development of the people. He also added that the people of Dima Hasao would be in need of economical uplift post this natural disaster and Ghoroa was planning to support them in this regard in the near future.
