DHEKIAJULI: In a heartfelt display of solidarity and respect, members of the Dhekiajuli Unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), led by Shankar Das, Education Secretary of the Sonitpur District AASU, visited the residence of Late Bijoy Chandra Kalita, the founding general secretary of the unit, to offer condolences on the passing away of his wife Shayashree Kalita.
The visit, made on Sunday, saw Shankar Das at the forefront, personally conveying the union’s grief and support to the bereaved family. Speaking on behalf of the organization, Das expressed deep sorrow and described Shayashree Kalita as ‘a woman of great moral strength, spiritual devotion, and service to society.’
Late Shayashree Kalita, mother of Pranab Jyoti Kalita, Assistant General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, was widely revered in the Dhekiajuli co-district for her compassionate spirit and contributions to the welfare of the community. Her demise has left a profound void in the hearts of many.
Shankar Das, in his tribute, emphasized her role as a silent pillar behind the legacy of student leadership in the area, stating, “Her values and dedication have been an invisible force guiding young minds. Her loss is not just personal, but a community-wide bereavement.” The Dhekiajuli Unit of AASU, through this visit, not only expressed their heartfelt condolences but also reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of compassion, service, and integrity that she stood for. The tribute concluded with a collective moment of silence and a message of strength and support to the family, honouring a life that continues to inspire even in absence.
