DHUBRI: An awareness meeting on child marriage and family planning was organized at Dhubri Primary Health Centre (Urban) in Dhubri district recently. The awareness meeting was presided over by Additional Chief Medical Officer (Family Planning), Dr. Mukul Chandra Barman while chief guests included District Additional Commissioner, Santana Bora, (Health Department), Chairman of Dhubri Municipal Board, Dr. Debamoy Sanyal, and Dhubri District Health Co-ordinator of WHO, Birina Bharali. The meeting aimed at to raise awareness about the health, mental and financial risks associated with child marriage and having more than two children.
The speakers emphasized the importance of family planning and encouraged women to adopt spacing methods to prevent health complications.
The programme was attended by over 100 participants including ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and local residents. The speakers highlighted the benefits of family planning, including improved health, economic stability, and education.
They also emphasized the importance of iron and folic acid supplementation for pregnant women. The district family planning coordinator explained the various spacing methods available, including permanent and temporary methods.
Overall, the meeting aimed at to educate and empower women to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and family planning.
