DHEKIAJULI: In an effort to foster a safer and more inclusive environment, Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College, Dhekiajuli, hosted an awareness programme on ‘Search for Equality and Prevention of Sexual Harassment’ today. The session brought together educators, administrators, and students to discuss crucial steps in tackling gender-based issues. Dhekiajuli Co-District Commissioner Dyotibha Bora attended as the keynote speaker and emphasized the importance of proactive measures in workplaces and educational institutions to combat sexual harassment. She elaborated on the definition of sexual harassment and highlighted the legal and institutional mechanisms available for redressal. The session commenced with a welcome address by the college’s Principal Dr Sukadev Adhikari who reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering gender equality. The event was coordinated by Dr Dalima Kakoti, who leads the college’s Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell, ensuring the discussion remained insightful and action-oriented. Additionally, Dr Hari Prasad Baruah, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), outlined various measures undertaken by the institution to prevent harassment and create a gender-sensitive campus.
