DIBRUGARH: The sale and use of nylon and glass-coated manja, commonly used for kite flying, have been prohibited across Dibrugarh district by an order issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
The order was issued today by District Magistrate Bikram Kairi in response to concerns over the threats posed by such manja to human life, including the risk of road accidents. Additionally, its harmful impact on the environment and wildlife has been cited as a reason for the ban.
Considering the urgency of the situation, the order has been enforced with immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice. Any violation of this directive will be punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
