KOKRAJHAR: The Bodoland University celebrated its 16th Foundation Day, in a befitting manner alongside observing the National Science Day, at the university’s Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Auditorium. The event witnessed the convergence of distinguished guests and scholars from various fields.
Chief of BTR Pramod Boro graced the occasion as the chief guest. Along with him, Dr Prodeep Phukan FRSC, Director of the College Development Council and Professor of Chemistry at Guwahati University, was also present as a guest speaker. Dr Babu Lal Ahuja, Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University, and Dr Surat Narzary, President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, were in attendance.
The celebration was a momentous occasion, not only marking the growth of Bodoland University but also acknowledging the pivotal role of science in shaping the future. The event highlighted the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence and the promotion of scientific inquiry.
On the 16th Foundation Day of Bodoland University, the BTR Chief announced a financial commitment of Rs 1 crore from the BTR Government for the promotion of research and study development.
Meanwhile, Bodoland University (BU) marked the National Science Day (NSD) 2025 with an extraordinary two-day celebration on February 27 and 28 at the Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Auditorium Hall. The event ended giving a vibrant platform, bringing together students, faculty, and researchers from various institutions to exhibit their groundbreaking innovations and cultivate scientific inquiry.
The event was inaugurated by Prof BL Ahuja, Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University, who eloquently underscored the transformative power of science and technology in shaping modern society. He lauded the engaging poster presentations and dynamic exhibits that embodied the immense potential of scientific exploration. Acknowledging the pressing challenges in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), such as a shortage of educators, Prof Ahuja reaffirmed his belief that the event would serve as a catalyst for igniting passion in aspiring scientists and reinvigorating interest in scientific disciplines.
A special tribute was paid to Dr CV Raman, the legendary physicist whose discovery of the Raman Effect earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. The event not only engaged the academic community but also played a pivotal role in enhancing public understanding of science. Dr Subung Basumatary, Registrar of Bodoland University, commended the remarkable contributions of students and researchers, emphasizing that the event was designed to spark intellectual curiosity, fuel creativity, and inspire groundbreaking scientific pursuits.
A total of 15 models and 30 posters were showcased, reflecting the ingenuity and dedication of the participants. The event also witnessed a spirited speech competition, where an impressive number of students demonstrated their eloquence and deep understanding of scientific concepts. Furthermore, participants from various colleges enriched the celebration, infusing it with diverse perspectives and expertise. More than 150 participants from different colleges took part in the events. Some of the colleges and institutes included Science College, Bineshwar Brahma Engineering College Central Institute of Technology, Aronai College, Bodofa UN Brahma College, and various departments of Bodoland University.
