Assam: BTR and BKWAC Leaders Mourn the Passing of Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh

The CEMs of BTR and BKWAC Pramod Boro and Mihiniswar Basumatary condoled the demise of former Prime Minister, economist Dr. Manmohan Singh and said the country has lost a great genius.

KOKRAJHAR: The Chief Executive Member (CEM)s of BTR and Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) Pramod Boro and Mihiniswar Basumatary condoled the demise of former Prime Minister, economist Dr. Manmohan Singh and said the country has lost a great genius.

Chief of BTR Pramod Boro said Singh will inspire generations to come. He extended his heartfelt sympathies to his family in this moment of grief.

 Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also extended his condolence and said since 1991 he was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from Assam- a state he represented for 28 years. “Dr Sahab embodied humility and never surrendered to the trappings of power,” he said.

Kokrajhar MLA Lawrence Islary also expressed sorrow over his death and said the nation has lost a great patriot, an exceptional scholar, an unconventional politician and a fine statesman.

On the other hand, the UPPL in a statement mourned the passing away of former Prime Minister. The party said the nation had lost a great leader, prominent intellectual and economist.
