Assam: Child protection awareness campaign held in Morigaon district

To focus on the vital issues of child protection, the District Child Welfare and Protection Committee organized a meeting in the conference hall of the District Commissioner on Thursday.

Morigaon: To focus on the vital issues of child protection, the District Child Welfare and Protection Committee organized a meeting  in the conference hall of the District Commissioner on Thursday.

The meeting discussed about child protection, prevention of child marriage, and effective implementation of the protection of children from Sexual Offences Act. The representatives of the child protection office and its convergence departments commented on the concerted efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of the children in the district. In conjunction with the meeting, the District Commissioner launched a mobile van awareness campaign on Child Marriage and Child Protection from Sexual Offences Act. The campaign aims to spread awareness throughout the Morigaon district.

A mobile van equipped with banners and a public address system, will travel to various locations to educate the community on the Child Protection Act and the consequences of child marriage. In an inspiring moment of the programme, Rashidul Islam, a resident of Morigaon Child Care Institute, was felicitated for his outstanding achievement in passing the high school examination. This recognition highlights the district’s commitment to rearing and supporting children in institutional care to achieve their aspirations. The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Hemant Kumar Das, Additional District Commissioner Sulakshana Borgohai, DSWO, CPOs and other representatives of various departments.
