KOKRAJHAR: In a significant step towards strengthening the justice and correctional infrastructure in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday inaugurated the newly-constructed District Jail in Chirang.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, along with other dignitaries. Assam Ministers Urkhao Gwra Brahma and Rupesh Gowala, as well as senior officials from the Government of Assam and BTR, also attended the event.
Speaking to media persons, BTC Chief Pramod Boro said the modern correctional facility will play a crucial role in enhancing the region’s law enforcement capabilities. He emphasized that the new district jail aligns with BTR’s commitment to a reform-oriented correctional system and expressed hope that it will make a meaningful contribution to the justice delivery process in the region.
