Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to inaugurate 2 flyovers in Dibrugarh

Heavy vehicles will be restricted on Dibrugarh’s newly built Convoy Road Flyover from April 27 to May 3 ahead of its inauguration by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

DIBRUGARH: The movement of heavy vehicles will be restricted over the newly constructed Convoy Road Flyover in Dibrugarh starting from  April 27 until May 3, according to a notification issued by the Public Works Roads Department (PWRD).  Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the Convoy Road flyover and Thana Chariali ROB on Sunday (April 27).

The notification stated that the decision has been taken to allow the flyover sufficient time to achieve structural stability during the critical early phase of the 28-day curing process typically required for concrete works. Light vehicles will be permitted to use the flyover during this period, but the movement of all heavy vehicles will be strictly prohibited.

Fresh instructions regarding vehicular movement will be issued after a technical review on May 4. The PWRD has appealed to transport operators and the general public to adhere to the directive in the interest of public safety and to safeguard the long-term durability of the infrastructure.

Moreover, the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation has ordered the temporary closure of the Chowkidingee Weekly Market on April 27.

The order has been issued to facilitate security arrangements and traffic management during the Chief Minister’s visit to Dibrugarh for the inauguration of the Convoy Road Flyover and the Thana Chariali Railway Overbridge. Vendors and local residents have been requested to cooperate with the civic authorities to ensure the smooth conduct of the official programme.

Its a good news for the citizen of Dibrugarh that the people will get two bridges in Dibrugarh and which will facilitate smooth flow of traffic.
