KOKRAJHAR: The Incident Response System (IRS) training and mock exercise, organized by the Chirang District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), in collaboration with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), successfully concluded on Tuesday with a realistic simulation of two critical disaster scenarios - a devastating earthquake and a fire.

The day began with an engaging table-top exercise, where participants were divided into four groups and tasked with responding to a simulated earthquake disaster situation. Following the table-top exercise, a comprehensive mock drill was conducted in accordance with the IRS principles. The drill took place across key locations, including the District Centre (Staging area), District Transport Office (Incident site and incident command post), and Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary Civil Hospital, ensuring a wide-reaching and realistic simulation of disaster response.

The mock drill involved all responding agencies, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Fire & Emergency Services, along with Chirang ADC Arup Choudhury as the Incident Commander and officials from the District Administration.

Approximately 150 participants were involved in the mock drill, highlighting the significant collaboration between various emergency response teams, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
