Assam: DDMA-Kokrajhar enhances child welfare and disaster preparedness

DDMA Kokrajhar launched initiatives to enhance child welfare in relief camps and strengthen disaster preparedness, with ADC Kabita Deka and senior officials in attendance.

KOKRAJHAR: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kokrajhar on Thursday spearheaded two pivotal initiatives aimed at bolstering child welfare in relief camps and strengthening disaster preparedness through enhanced response and risk communication strategies in the presence of ADC Kabita Deka and other senior officials.

In a ceremonial event, DDMA, Kokrajhar distributed Child Friendly Space (CFS) kits to selected model relief camps within the district. These kits are designed to establish safe and supportive environments for children affected by disasters, ensuring their well-being and protection during emergencies.

Later in the day, DDMA Kokrajhar convened a thematic meeting on Response and Risk Communication at the DC Conference Hall. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from Fire and Emergency Services, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Police and Assam Police Radio Organisation (APRO), Non-Governmental Organizations, Water Resources department, and Telecommunication Operators. The primary focus was to delineate roles in monsoon preparedness, enhance response strategies, improve risk communication, build partnerships, and strengthen coordination among stakeholders.
