GUWAHATI: Four distinguished individuals from various fields in Assam have been invited to attend the ‘Republic Day at Home-2025’ event at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on the 76th Republic Day. The special invitations are being delivered by the Assam Postal Circle.
The invitees include Parbati Baruah, an animal conservation activist; Ravi Kannan, a cancer specialist at the Cachar Cancer Hospital; and social activists Premananda Biswas and Bhimlal Mishra.
Abhishek Jain, the Director of the Assam Postal Circle, stated that approximately 250 guests from various fields across the country, including beneficiaries of government schemes, are being invited by President Draupadi Murmu.
Jain remarked, "It is one of the most prestigious events hosted by the President, where the invitees will participate in the Republic Day celebrations, followed by a formal gathering."
The postal department delivered the invitation to Parbati Baruah at her home on Wednesday, while the remaining invitations will be handed to the respective invitees on Thursday.
The invitation package has been thoughtfully designed to feature a selection of distinctive handicrafts from the southern region. The invitation card, enclosed in a box, is made from bamboo and decorated with Kalamkari art, a traditional textile painting technique from Andhra Pradesh. Along with the card, the package includes a collection of regional treasures.
