GOALPARA: The Goalpara district administration has announced strict measures to prevent unjustified price hikes of essential commodities amid rising fuel costs. District Commissioner Prodip Timung chaired a meeting on Friday with wholesale and retail traders and fixed the maximum retail prices of potatoes at Rs 11 per kg and onions at Rs 30 per kg. The administration has also ordered daily monitoring of prices of rice, pulses, edible oil, and other essential goods. Traders have also been directed to display price lists clearly in their shops. Authorities warned that strict action, including cancellation of trade licenses, would be taken against anyone violating the orders or creating artificial shortages.
SIVASAGAR: A district-level Task Force meeting was held recently at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, Sivasagar, to review the prevailing situation of rising market prices. The meeting was chaired by Additional District Commissioner of the Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Department, Gauripriya Deori. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the responsibilities and duties of the district-level Task Force in keeping market prices under control and ensuring that consumers are not subjected to harassment by traders. The traders were instructed to clearly display price boards mentioning the rates of 22 old and 18 newly-added essential commodities.
