GOLAGHAT: Golaghat Police is regularly conducting a refresher course on handling weapons at the police reserve to enhance skills & ensure perfection. "Strengthening our personnel for better efficiency & safety," the Golaghat police wrote on their social media handle X.
Meanwhile, in a major crackdown on the drug trade, following a tip-off, Golaghat Police carried out an anti-drug operation under Naojan OP and seized 105.73 grams of heroin. In the process, the police arrested one woman and two men involved in drug dealing. They also seized two vehicles and six mobile phones, which were likely used for trafficking the drugs.
The police have initiated legal action against the accused individuals, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the operation. Authorities have commended the timely intervention of the public and vowed to continue their efforts in combating the growing drug menace in the region.
In another major clampdown on illicit wildlife trade, Assam police have apprehended four persons with a rhino horn weighing 1.341 kg in Golaghat district’s Merapani.
Acting on a tip-off, Golaghat Police on Sunday conducted a raid at Kalyanpur under Merapani PS and seized one rhino horn weighing 1.341 kg. Four persons were also detained in connection with the case. The arrested individuals have been identified as Farooq Ali, Noor Jamal, Binod Barua, and Rupam Barua.
