DOOMDOOMA: The “Good Governance Week”, which began in Tinsukia District on December 19, came to a close today, the festive day of Christmas Day.

For that, a district level workshop on good governance was held at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s Office today. Explaining the objectives of the workshop, District Development Commissioner Pabitra Kumar Das said that the central government launched this programme to bring the administration closer to the people. The theme of this year’s Programme was ‘Taking Administration to the Village’.

During this period, special hearings were held at the offices of all the Revenue Circles and Block Development Offices of the district and efforts were made to resolve the grievances of the people in the presence of various departmental officers to the extent possible.

The workshop was attended by retired senior officer of Assam Civil Service (ACS) Jogesh Baruah as the chief speaker. He spoke about the importance of good governance and urged the officers present to enhance the trust of the people in the administration by making proper use of the methods of good governance and working wholeheartedly for the welfare of the people.

The meeting was also attended by Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Mandira Baruah and District Heads of various departments.

Meanwhile, District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) Bikash Sarmah said that on the sixth day of the week-long programme, departmental officers of the district visited four revenue circles namely, Tinsukia, Margherita, Doomdooma, and Sadiya revenue circles and seven Block development offices namely, Makum, Itakhuli, Sadiya, and Saikhowa.

As a part of the ongoing “Administration Gaon Ki Aur” programme, employees of Sadiya Revenue Circle crossed the Dibang River in Amarpur, a remote area of Sadiya yesterday to distribute PM Modi’s gifts to farmers in the area and land occupation certificates to avail the benefits of Kisan Scheme. The farmers were unable to apply for the PM Kisan scheme due to lack of leases as Amarpur is an unsurveyed village.

Tinsukia District Commissioner (DC) Swapneel Paul had paid a special visit to Amarpur recently and promised to issue land occupation certificates to them. DC Paul took special initiative and issued orders to prepare about 732 land occupation certificates for the people of Amarpur area.
