Dibrugarh: Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya conducted a comprehensive review meeting in Dibrugarh to assess the progress of various ongoing development projects in the district.

He emphasized the importance of timely implementation to ensure the projects meet public expectations and improve the region's quality of life.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Power Minister and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan, Industries Minister Bimal Borah, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Bikram Kairi, and department heads.

The review focused on critical infrastructure projects such as the four-lane highway, flood mitigation measures, erosion control initiatives, and the strategic runway extension at Dibrugarh Airport.

DC Bikram Kairi provided detailed updates on the status of several initiatives, including the Dibrugarh town drainage project, agricultural programs, and water supply schemes aimed at improving access to clean water. Special attention was given to flood control measures, recognizing the district’s vulnerability to seasonal flooding.

The administration pledged to fast-track these projects while maintaining quality standards. The four-lane highway project, in particular, is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the region. The runway extension at Dibrugarh Airport is also seen as a key strategic development for improving regional transport.

To ensure accountability, the governor directed the establishment of a monitoring mechanism, requiring department heads to submit monthly progress reports and highlight challenges needing immediate intervention.

Before the meeting, the governor and his wife, Kumud Devi, visited the historic Jagannath Temple in Dibrugarh, offering prayers and seeking blessings.
