Silchar: The Guru Charan College would begin its journey as an university in 2025, stated Kausik Rai, the Barak Valley Development Department Minister. Addressing a gathering at the G C College during its Annual Merit and Scholarship function, Rai said the appointment of the Vice Chancellor for the new state university would be finalized by January 2025. Search for suitable sites for the new university complex was going on and would be settled very soon, Rai added.
Speaking on the occasion, the Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakrabarty said, the upgrading the premier institute into a university would usher in a new era in the Barak Valley.
