DHUBRI: A high-level team conducted a thorough investigation of the Food and Civil Supply department's district office in dhubri on Sunday. The investigation team was headed by the joint director of the Department of Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs, Bipul Talukdar, comprising five officials.
A source close to the Food and Civil Supply department informed that officials seized many files related to serious allegations in the distribution of wheat and issuing of ration cards after thorough scrutiny.
The team also went on to investigate the files in Block Development Offices, Cooperative Societies, and fair shops in the Dhubri district to ascertain the level of alleged corruption.
After the allegation of corruption surfaced against the Superintendent of Dhubri District Food and Civil Supplies, Ashok Kumar Sarma was suspended, and a probe order was issued by the government. Besides this, earlier Dhubri District Commissioner also transferred many staff to other offices of the district.
