DOOMDOOMA: The Daul Utsab was celebrated by Doomdooma Asamiya Puja Aru Natya Mandir Samiti (DAPANMS) on Thursday and Friday for nine consecutive years with much fanfare and religious fervour.

However, due to the sudden death of Nagen Talukdar, a kettle- drum player and a prominent religious disciple of DAPANMS on March 13, the programme was cancelled for that day in his memory. On the morning of March 14, Daul Puja was held at DAPANMS premises and the devotees were served the Lord’s Nirmali on completion of the Puja.

After the Daul Puja, about one hundred devotees including President Jiten Deka, Secretary Arup Jyoti Deka, Organising Secretary Kuladhar Barman, and others went around the town with the idols of Radha-Krishna. The devotees mostly used dry faku (holi colour) in sharp contrast to various harmful faku made of injurious chemicals that people, mostly youngsters, use in Holi celebration.
