DIBRUGARH: Unidentified miscreants attacked the residence of journalist Brajen Gogoi in Duliajan on the evening of April 14, the first day of the Assamese New Year. According to reports, the unknown attackers hurled stones at Gogoi’s home in Duliajan, causing significant property damage. The attackers also vandalized Gogoi’s property.
Gogoi, who filed a report at Naoholia Police Outpost earlier the same day, suspects that the attack could have been a direct response to his reporting.
After the incident, police officers immediately visited the scene and initiated an inquiry into the incident. But no suspects have been arrested so far.
Meanwhile, the media fraternity in Duliajan condemned the incident. “We have registered a case and are searching for them. Those who have done this act will be punishable as per law,” said a police official.
