DHUBRI: A two-day programme of Kolkata-Dhubri Sammilani concluded on Tuesday. The first day’s programme was the distribution of scholarships to needy and meritorious students.
This year, 69 meritorious students from various schools in Dhubri received scholarships. The scholarship programme has been running for 14 years with the generous donations from various individuals and the efforts of Sammilani members. The programme began with a welcome address by Sammilani’s president, Arijit Ghosh, and secretary, Debashish Sarkar. The chief guest, Dr. Prabir Kumar Pal, handed out the scholarships to the students at Harisabha Natmandir hall. A special award was given to Ashutosh Ghosh, who scored the highest marks in mathematics this year higher secondary examination.
The second day’s programme was a cultural event featuring songs, dances, stories, and poetry recitals held at a town hotel conference hall and was attended by Sammilani members and their families including Erikka Ingrid Nandi, Debodatta Guha, Shukla Chakraborty, Shakuntala Roy and others. The programme was anchored by Ashim Bhattacharya.
