DIGBOI: With just days left for Independence Day, the co-district administration in Digboi’s Tingrai has swung into action to ensure a grand celebration of the nation’s 79th Independence Day on August 15 centrally at Tingrai in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

Tingrai’s iconic venue being a mammoth and multi-layered stadium around the General Field is being decked up as the administration prepares to officially celebrate the Red Letter Day for the first time.

“Preparations are in full swing, with venues being decorated in tricolour themes, stages being readied for cultural performances, and comprehensive security measures being put in place to ensure a smooth conduct of the significant day,” said Rahul Doley, the incumbent Co-District Commissioner of Digboi.

“The venue may be new for such a mammoth celebration yet the active cooperation from highly spirited volunteers, local residents, organizing committee public leaders, and other stakeholders have amply emboldened the administration to swing swiftly in its efforts,” added Doley.

“Although new on my assignment as Co-District Commissioner, yet the round o’clock assistance and guidance by local Legislator Suren Phukan and his proactive team have helped a lot in securing a steady progress despite inclement weather,” told the administrator.

Local schools, community groups, and cultural organizations have been roped in to present songs, dances, and plays showcasing India’s journey to freedom.

Officials have urged residents to participate in large numbers and celebrate the occasion with unity and pride. Flag hoisting ceremonies, parades, and felicitation of distinguished citizens are among the key highlights planned for the day.
