KOKRAJHAR: In a significant health outreach initiative, Lok Sabha MP Joyanta Basumatary and Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary jointly led a ceremonial distribution programme of medicated bed nets and blankets at Bamungaon AAM under Sidli BPHC in Chirang on Thursday.

The programme was organized by the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC), Chirang. The medicated bed nets and blankets were generously donated by IOCL, Bongaigaon Refinery, as part of its commitment to community welfare and the enhancement of public health.

The initiative aims to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue by reducing exposure to mosquitoes during peak transmission hours at night. The distribution of blankets also provides warmth and comfort to vulnerable populations, especially those living in areas affected by harsh weather conditions. Together, these essential items contribute significantly to safeguarding public health and improving the quality of life in the region.

The event was inaugurated by the dignitaries, who personally handed over the supplies to beneficiaries from the Bamungaon area. Among those present at the programme were Bhubaneswar Swargiary, Director of Health Services, BTC; Nayan Kumar Baruah, Executive Director and Refinery Head, IOCL Bongaigaon; Silpika Kalita, ADC (Health); Dr. Rejaul Karim, Joint Director of Health Services, Chirang; along with officials from the District Health Society, Chirang, and IOCL, Bongaigaon.
