TEZPUR: Minister of Water Resources, Information & Public Relations, and Guardian Minister of Sonitpur district Pijush Hazarika attended a special district-level workshop held at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office, Tezpur today. The workshop was organized under Advantage Assam 2.0 for Sonitpur and Biswanath districts as a precursor to the main Advantage Assam 2.0 event scheduled to be held in Guwahati on February 25 and February 26.
As the chief guest, Minister Hazarika addressed over 200 entrepreneurs from the two districts who participated in the workshop. The event, organized by the District Industries & Commerce Department, featured detailed presentations by experts on the industrial potential of the two districts.
During the session, the minister interacted with entrepreneurs to understand the challenges they faced in their businesses. Upon learning that two entrepreneurs were facing issues related to land documents, he immediately directed the Deputy Commissioner to address the matter without delay.
In his speech, Minister Hazarika stated that under Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership, Assam now has a corruption-free environment, making it an attractive destination for investors. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision has propelled India into the world’s fifth-largest economy, and Assam is also working towards creating a favourable business climate under the Chief Minister’s leadership.
The minister pointed out that except for tea and a few government-run enterprises, Assam had historically struggled to establish a strong industrial base. He attributed this to the state’s past history of frequent strikes and unrest, which discouraged investment. However, he highlighted that in the past four years under Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has not witnessed a single strike or shutdown. Inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s vision, the government is now actively working to transform Assam into a manufacturing hub. Minister Hazarika further expressed confidence that the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 event would bring significant investment to the state. The event was attended by District Commissioners of Sonitpur and Biswanath Ankur Bharali and Munindra Nath Ngatey, MLAs Prithiraj Rava, Ganesh Kumar Limbu, and Krishnakamal Tanti.
