TINSUKIA: Along with other districts of Assam, the National Deworming Day Feb-round 2025 was formally inaugurated today at Gyanangkush Residential School Borguri Tinsukia. The launching ceremony was attended by Chinmoy Pathak ADC (Health) Tinsukia in the presence of Dr Rajib Ranjan Gogoi, Additional Chief M&HO, Dr Nirod Kumar Borah, District Immunization Officer, Tinsukia, and district officials from Social Welfare and Health department.
The National Deworming Day (NDD) is organized bi-annually to combat worm infestation by administering deworming tablets (Albendazole) to 1-19 years children and adolescents. This programme will be followed by a Mop Up Round to February 17 through all the available platforms such as schools, AWCs, VHSNDs, and other community events of the district. In Tinsukia district nearly 5,58,490 children will be administered Albendazole Tablets during this deworming fortnight.
Meanwhile in another event, District Health Society Tinsukia also launched a Mass Drug Administration (MDA) for the lymphatic filariasis elimination programme at Daimukhia Tea garden hospital today. The campaign will continue till February 19 in the identified areas of Tinsukia district. The Inaugural launching ceremony was attended by Chinmoy Pathak, ADC (Health) Tinsukia, in the presence of Dr Minakshi Hazarika, District Surveillance Officer, Tinsukia, Tea Garden Management, and state officials from NHM Assam. Addressing the mediapersons, Pathak informed that as the microfilaria rate in Hapjan BPHC has been recorded more than 1 percent, the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) will be taken up at Hapjan BPHC along with three other districts of Assam as per guidelines of WHO and Government of Assam.
