Assam: National gender campaign Nari Chetna 3.0 organized in Kokrajhar district

KOKRAJHAR: As part of the Nari Chetna 3.0—the National Gender Campaign, a walkathon in traditional attire was organized at Dotma in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.

The event, organized by the Bodoland Community Counselling Centre (BCCC) under the department of Women and Child Development, in collaboration with ASRLM Kokrajhar, is aimed at raising awareness about gender equality and emphasises the importance of women’s empowerment in building a more inclusive society. The awareness rally began at the Gender Resources Centre in Dotma and culminated at Dotma Girls’ Higher Secondary School, where an awareness programme was conducted. Social activist and gender specialist Padmini Brahma, member of the Juvenile Justice Board, Kokrajhar; Preetam Brahma Choudhury, Bodoland Community Counselling Centre program officer; and Gargi Machahary, OC of Dotma PS, participated in the programme.

Participants from various communities enthusiastically took part, adorning vibrant traditional attire that symbolised cultural unity and a shared commitment to gender justice.

Throughout the rally, the organisers and participants actively shared messages promoting equality, inclusion, and dialogue to address gender-based issues.
