KOKRAJHAR: In a new development, a new political party named Alternative Party of Boroland (APB) was formed today in a meeting held at Borbari in Baksa district. The new political party was formed at the behest of United Forum of ex-NDFB, looking for a political change in BTC.
The new political party, APB, was formed with Dr Anjali Daimary, founder president of the Boro Women’s Justice Forum (BWJF) and former secretary of the BPF as the President and Pradip Kr Brahma, a retired police officer as the General Secretary. Jagadish Brahna alias B Jwngblao, ex- NDFB leader, became Organizing Secretary while Banso Daimary, Jakir Hussain, and D Harimu, ex- NDFB, were taken as the spokespersons. The new party has a strength of 27 members. The meeting for the formation of the new political party was presided over by B Rimwnlang, Secretary of United Forum of ex-NDFB.
It may be mentioned that President of the new political party Dr Anjali Daimary tendered her resignation from the post of Secretary and primary membership of the BPF on March 29.
It is clearly evident that the ex-NDFB has split again in two groups after signing of the BTR Accord. Four groups of the NDFB were the stakeholders of the accord. Now, the ex-NDFB has two groups, United Forum of ex-NDFB supporting the new political party APB, while ex-NDFB Welfare Association has been supporting the UPPL and BJP coalition to resolve their pending issues amicably.
