NAGAON: A blood donation camp was organized at Nowgong College (Autonomous) today by the college’s National Service Scheme (NSS) unit and National Cadet Corps (NCC) in collaboration with the non-governmental organization NIFAA and the Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaon Branch.
The programme was inaugurated by Partha Hazarika, a resource person of NIFAA, as the chief guest. He congratulated the students who came forward to donate blood. Dr Bhuban Ch Chutia, NSS Programme Officer, initiated the inaugural session of the camp.
Riku Dutta, a councillor of the Nagaon District Blood Bank, emphasized the importance of blood donation and encouraged everyone to donate blood on their birthdays to contribute to the betterment of society. He also supervised the blood donation drive.
A total of 33 units of blood were collected during the camp today and sent to the blood bank. The In-Charge Principal of the college Dr Pulin Chandra Bora thanked the students for their willingness to donate blood.
Over 150 students of the college also registered their names today for future blood donation. The programme was supported by the college teachers, non-teaching staff, and students.
