MANGALDAI: Jogendra Nath Saharia, a retired official of the Cooperative Department of the Assam Government and a resident of Baruapara, Ward No. 4 in Mangaldai, passed away on Sunday evening while attending a marriage function at Orang in Udalguri district. He was 82.
Jogendra Nath Saharia, who had gone to attend the family function, suddenly fell ill. He was immediately rushed to the Orang Primary Health Centre and then referred to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead.
After his retirement, he remained actively associated with several local socio-religious organizations, including the Sanatan Dharma Sabha and the Sri Krishna Raas Organising Committee, among others. He also served as a Director of the Mangaldai Nagar Samabai Bank. His sudden demise has been widely mourned in Mangaldai. He is survived by his wife, two sons Nip Dutta Saharia and Ujjwal Saharia and a daughter, along with a host of relatives.
