DEMOW: Along with the rest of the state, Rongali Bihu was celebrated in Demow and its adjoining areas with pomp and gaiety on April 14 and April 15. On Goru Bihu, People carried out their customs and cleaned their cattle on the morning of April 14. On the occasion of Rongali Bihu, people and children played the egg fight.
On April 15, Manuh Bihu was celebrated and people were observed wearing new attire and asking their elders for blessings. The ‘Poila Baishak’ for the Bengali community was also celebrated on April 15 where people sought blessings from their elders and Ganesh Puja was also held.
Under the patronage of the Demow Regional Tai Ahom Students Union, former colleagues, and in association with the people, in memory of Damchao Nipon Boruah and Damchao Hemanga Mohan Barua, the 9th annual Mukoli Bihu 2025 programme was organized at Demow Public Playground on the first day of Bohag on April 15.
Sushanta Borgohain, Demow constituency MLA, inaugurated the Mukoli Bihu 2025 programme. The Husori teams performed Bihu in the programme. Under the patronage of 1 No. Rupapur, 2 No. Rupapur, Debpur, Sigadubi, Otala Maj Gaon, Ujjani Otala, Sonapur, and Barpathar Gaon youths and in association with the people, the fourth annual Mukoli Bihu celebration was celebrated in Otala Middle English School premises on April 16. The invited Husori teams performed Bihu in the programme.
