Hojai: The Department of Political Science at Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai, organized a seminar titled “Samvidhan Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Celebrating 75 years of the Indian Constitution” to commemorate the remarkable journey of the Constitution of India over the past 75 years, on Friday.
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of the University, who ceremonially lit the lamp, followed by the rendition of the State Anthem. In his inaugural address, Prof. Dutta Choudhury paid tribute to the framers of the Constitution and remarked, The Constitution of India has emerged as the most vibrant document governing a nation as vast and diverse as ours. It stands as a guarantee of life and security for our 1.5 billion citizens. Over the past 75 years, it has matured into an unparalleled guiding force that will continue to lead us through the centuries ahead.
The seminar began with a welcome address by Dr. Prem Sagar Prasad, Head of the Department of Political Science, who outlined the background and objectives of the event. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Dijamoni Sarmah of Rabindranath Tagore University, setting the tone for the deliberations to follow.
A total of seven research scholars presented insightful research papers on diverse aspects of the Indian Constitution. The technical session was chaired by Dr. P.S. Prasad, HoD, Political Science and co-chaired by Dr. Akshayjyoti Sarma, Associate Professor, Political Science Department. The session featured lively discussions that enriched the academic exchange and engaged the participants.
The seminar witnessed the participation of around 100 attendees, including faculty members, research scholars, and students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Aprilly Timungpi, followed by the performance of the National Anthem. The programme was seamlessly compered by Dr. Jesmine Ahmed.
