Assam: Prohibitory Orders Imposed In Sivasagar To Maintain Law And Order

Gatherings of five or more people without prior permission, public meetings, road closures, effigy burning (Puttolika Dah), processions, and the construction of martyr altars have been prohibited.

SIVASAGAR: In a bid to maintain peace and tranquility in Assam's Sivasagar district, Deputy Commissioner Ayush Garg, IAS, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the BNSS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita). The directive, which is effective immediately, imposes strict restrictions across the district.

As per the order, gatherings of five or more people without prior permission, public meetings, road closures, effigy burning (Puttolika Dah), processions, and the construction of martyr altars have been prohibited. Additionally, activities such as wall writing, damage to public property, unauthorized fundraising, and carrying firearms have also been banned.

The order further restricts the movement of unauthorized individuals or groups within 200 meters of sites under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). However, CRPF personnel on duty, government officials, and police personnel are exempt from these restrictions. The district administration has urged citizens to adhere to the directive to ensure peace and stability in the region.

Meanwhile, to ensure a disciplined and focused learning environment, the Inspector of Schools in Sivasagar district, Assam, has issued new guidelines regarding the use of mobile phones by teachers during class hours. The directive aims to prevent teachers from using mobile phones for personal reasons while in class.
