SIVASAGAR: In a successful operation, Sivasagar police recovered three stolen ATM batteries and arrested three individuals near Sivasagar Railway Station. The arrested individuals have been identified as Bhola Gowala, Sahidur Ali, and Najima Begum. The trio allegedly stole the batteries from an SBI ATM in the town on Sunday night, according to police reports.
Based on intelligence inputs, the stolen batteries were found during an early-morning police raid near the railway station. Further investigation is underway to find out if the accused were involved in any other criminal activity.
In another separate operation, the Central Guwahati Police Department team from the Panbazar Police Station spotted two thieves acting suspiciously near the NO Bridge. Following the suspicion, the police conducted an investigation and apprehended the thieves with stolen materials.
Officials further seized 4 iron plates and PVC electric wires (approx. 50 m) from the arrested thieves. The arrested individuals were identified as Matiur Rahman (31)—Chamaria, Boko; and Maniwar Dewan (20)—Boraggya, Barpeta.
Meanwhile, two drug peddlers were arrested by the Sivasagar police during an anti-narcotics operation at Station Chariali on Friday.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Bishal Nath, son of Rabin Chandra Nath hailing from Cherekapar Hatimuriya Gaon, and Asif Ahmed, son of Mustafa Alom belonging to Jengonikotia. The duo was nabbed for possessing suspected heroin weighing 19.79 grams.
