DHUBRI: The third phase of new ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) were formally distributed at the Dhubri District Library auditorium on Saturday.
The programme of ceremonial distribution of cards was attended by the chairman of Dhubri Municipal Board, Debamoy Sanyal Vice-Chairman of the board, Ivylata Roy Additional District Commissioner, Shanta Karki Chetri, and other officials. In January this year, 10,73,489 new families received ration cards.
Beneficiaries would receive free rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) scheme from January, 2025.
Ration card holders would also receive free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per year under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and free LPG connections, stoves, and cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme. In Dhubri district, 73,028 new beneficiaries were added, covering 24,746 families.
In Golakganj, a total of 15,061 beneficiaries with 5,694 families, in Gauripur, 14,896 beneficiaries with 4,953 families while in Dhubri, 13,911 beneficiaries with 4,757 families and in Bilasipara, 15,148 beneficiaries with 5,959 families were benefited.
