ORANG: In a bid to accelerate inclusive development in remote forest villages, the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Government took a significant step forward on Wednesday with the inauguration of two Bodo medium primary schools and a newly-constructed model toilet in Mazbat. The facilities were formally opened by BTR Deputy Chief Executive Member (CEM) Gobinda Chandra Basumatary in a ceremonial event marked by community participation and optimism.
The newly-established schools are located at Bathabari in Adarsha Bahadur village and Hadangguri in Lamabari, both aimed at improving access to education in Bodo-medium for underprivileged and forest-dwelling communities. Alongside the educational infrastructure, a modern sanitary facility was inaugurated at the Bathou temple in Bathabari, enhancing the public amenities of the area.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy CEM Basumatary took a dig at the previous administration under the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), stating that despite 17 years of governance, the forest villages of the Mazbat region remained largely neglected in terms of development. “Today, under the leadership of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), we are ensuring that the long-deprived areas are finally receiving the attention and infrastructure they deserve,” Basumatary asserted.
The inauguration event was graced by several dignitaries, including engineer Tonkeshwar Hazarika, UPPL central working committee member Remish Linda, party leader Dipak Boral, Mazbat Block President Ifungla Basumatary, retired teacher Ramkaran Gorh, businessmen Hemen Hainari and Nripen Daimary, community member Krishna Narzary, and VCDC President Sanjay Boro, among others.
The occasion was hailed as a milestone for grassroots development in Mazbat, particularly for the Bodo-speaking community, and reflected the BTR Government’s ongoing commitment to educational upliftment and public hygiene.
