BARPETA: The Education Department of Barpeta district has been conducting a special remedial teaching programme since January 17, aimed at improving performance in the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination and Class 12 board examinations. This special remedial programme has already seen participation from 12,600 students from Barpeta and Bajali districts who will be appearing in the HSLC and Class 12 board examinations.

The programme, conceived and earnestly implemented under the guidance of Barpeta district's School Inspector Ratul Kumar Das, has been playing a crucial role in preparing students for their upcoming examinations. The initiative aims to bridge learning gaps in specific subjects, and it is anticipated that this step by the Barpeta District Education Department will significantly benefit the students. The programme is expected to improve the overall results of schools in both Barpeta and Bajali districts in the upcoming examinations.

The Academic Councils of both Barpeta and Bajali districts have played a substantial role in making this special remedial programme successful. Council members have been providing adequate support and educational assistance to schools while overseeing all aspects of the programme's implementation. Notably, an advanced app called ‘Sameeksha’ is being used to maintain attendance records of students in this special remedial programme. Developed by Barpeta district's Block Resource Person Prasenjit Sarma, the Sameeksha app allows schools to submit daily attendance along with geo-tagged photos, making it easier to track the progress of the entire programme.

Additionally, the Barpeta District Education Department had arranged free coaching earlier for the National Means-cum-Merit Test held last December. Barpeta district had the highest participation rate in Assam, with approximately 27 percent of the state's total test-takers coming from the district. The coaching provision is expected to help achieve promising results in this national-level scholarship examination.

Through such initiatives by Education Officer Ratul Das, countless students from both districts have been notably benefited, and it is hoped that these efforts will lead to improved results in the upcoming board examinations for both districts.
