BKWAC chief appeals to government to implement clauses of BTR accord before Jan

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) urged the Government of India and Assam to implement all the clauses of the accord before Januart 1.

KOKRAJHAR: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) on Thursday urged the Government of India and Assam to implement all the clauses of the accord before Januart 1.

 Talking exclusively to The Sentinel, the CEM of BKWAC Mihiniswar Basumatary said the formation of BTR was going to complete five years on January 27, 2024 but for some reasons, many vital clauses of the BTR accord have not been implemented till today. He said BKWAC was formed as part of the BTR accord but the notification of villages and delimitation of constituencies have not been carried out and announced. He demanded the inclusion of Bodos of Karbi Anglong in ST (H) list, complete rehabilitation of ex- NDFB and ex- BLT,  release of NDFB founder and leaders and release of fund to BKWAC etc. He also said the vital clauses of the BTR accord were not implemented in the last five years.

Basumatary said the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was a dynamic leader to implement any major clause of the accord and they have always high hopes and aspirations for the implementation of BTR accord. He said the New Year-2025 was coming and it is very vital for the government of India and to play a major initiative to implement all the clauses of the accord. He further said the government should realize the need of implementing of the BTR accord in letter and spirit.

The BKWAC's CEM stated that they were hoping for a positive message from the Indian and Assamese governments to carry out all of the remaining provisions of the BTR treaty, guaranteeing the necessary funding for the BKWAC to bring about effective development. He hoped that the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will take all necessary actions for the speedy implementation of clauses of BTR accord before the new year.
