Bongaigaon Police Cracks Down On Illegal Gambling, Confiscate Bikes And Cars

A police team, led by Dy. SP (HQ), raided an illegal gambling site at Barshangaon in Bongaigaon and seized several bikes and cars belonging to the offenders.

BONGAIGAON: A police team, led by Dy. SP (HQ), raided an illegal gambling site at Barshangaon in Assam's Bongaigaon and seized several bikes and cars belonging to the offenders. The authorities have registered a case in connection with the incident, and further action will be taken according to the law.

Meanwhile, a successful raid was conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam, led by Dy. SP Satyendra Singh Hazari, at the residence of Matibur Rahman in Harasatapu, Muslim Chapori, under Dhekiajuli Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, the STF team apprehended three individuals involved in illegal activities.

During the raid, authorities seized significant illicit materials, including an H K 33 assault rifle, 30 rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition, and three mobile phones. In addition, two vehicles—a Bolero car (registration number AS12 U 9887) and a Royal Enfield motorcycle (registration number AS12 AF 7217)—believed to have been used in the illegal activities, were also confiscated.

The arrested individuals were identified as Matibur Rahman (26), Julfikar Ali (32), and Sohidul Islam (30), all residents of the Dhekiajuli area. Matibur Rahman and Julfikar Ali are from Harashetapur, Muslim Chapori, while Sohidul Islam hails from Upor Panbari, Dhekiajuli.

After the operation, the suspects and the seized materials were handed over to Dhekiajuli Police Station for further investigation and legal action. This operation is part of the STF’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal arms and ammunition trade in Assam, ensuring the safety and security of the state.
