KOKRAJHAR: A delegation of the Bodo National Students Union (BONSU) led by its president Bonjit Manjil Basumatary on Monday called on the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu in Itanagar to discuss range of issues including enhancing relationship of people between the Bodos and Arunachal.
The president of BONSU Bonjit Manjil Basumatary said the discussion was fruitful as expected as the Chief Minister Khandu gave a patient hearing in the discussion. He said they discussed the issues of Bodoland and to enhance the relationship of the people of Bodo indigenous tribe and the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
Basumatary said BONSU was a new and emerging nationalist students’ organization of the Bodos which have been working on focusing the creation of a separate state of Bodoland since 2022. He also said they have started the 4th phase of Bodoland movement after the signing of the BTR accord by ABSU, UBPO and the four factions of the NDFB with the Government of India and Assam in 2020. He also said during their meeting with the Arunachal Chief Minister they discussed the cultural exchange programme between the indigenous tribal people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the days to come.
