KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM) has expressed resentment over the failure of the government of BTC to protect the tribal belts and blocks of the region and the use of Bodo language in the BTC Assembly.
In a statement, the working president of BJSM DD Narzary said the government of BTC had been taking credit out of land patta distribution among the landless people but there are no concrete details of the landless people whether they are indigenous tribal people and illegible citizens of India. He said the land patta was given without proper verification and survey. He also said only indigenous tribal people were eligible to get the land patta in tribal belts and blocks and 6th schedule BTC administration but there could be some violations of act for which the concerned department is hiding the data.
Narzary said in 2019, the Gauhati High Court had issued order to the DCs and BTC Principal Secretary to evict all non-protected class of people from the tribal belts and blocks but the government of BTC has failed to carry out eviction drive against illegal settlers in tribal lands. He said the land of Mojabari village under Sidli Block belonged to Bodo inhabitants over the ages. Mojabari under Sidli was declared as tribal block on December 5, 1947 but the Muslim land grabbers have systematically taken all the lands belonging to Bodo people. He also said the land records and documents had been still available in the hands of the Bodos who are bound to displace in various places due to forceful occupation with larger population. He said the government of BTC must resecure the tribal lands from the illegal occupation of Muslim migrants. He further said taking credit from giving land patta was not the objective of the government of BTC but they must take firm action to evict all illegal settlers in tribal belts and blocks.
