MANGALDAI: “The people of Darrang district are poised to witness a transformative era of infrastructure development. Darrang district, enlisted as one of the aspirational districts of the country has been steadily progressing in various spheres, is all set to undergo a significant metamorphosis, catapulting it into a new era of growth, development and prosperity,” said highly elating Mangaldai legislator Basanta Das with strong confidence while talking to “The Sentinel” on the first day of the New Year on Wednesday. He also added that the people of the district would also be able to differentiate the days of the new year to the yesteryear.
“With a slew of ambitious projects in the pipeline, the district is bracing itself for a massive overhaul of its infrastructures. From the four lane green bye pass of NH 15 to the Rs 1200 crore state-of-the-art Assam Skill University and the proposed Medical College at Mangaldai, the landscape of the district is set to undergo a dramatic transformation. The new year promises to bring with it renewed sense of purpose and progress, as the district gears up to take its rightful place as a hub of development and opportunity” added legislator Das.
Elaborating it, he also said that 80% of the construction work of Assam Skill University has already been completed while the classes of the University would commence from July this year at its permanent site. “Allotment of the required suitable plot of land for the proposed Medical College at Mangaldai has already been made by the district administration to pave the way to lay the foundation in an auspicious day within a short period. The multinational company Coca-cola, bringing a high hope to the people of the district, has also come forward to set up their production unit at Mangaldai for which the district administration has allotted a plot of suitable land measuring 150 bighas near Assam Skill University. Further, with the construction of the integrated office building of District Commissioner in the outskirts of the district headquarters town, all the government offices will be accommodated in the same complex which will not only bring relief to the common people, but will also reduce their valuable time in visiting the government offices located in different location” said Basanta Das.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on the new year on behalf of the people of Mangaldai for his deep concern to the people of Darrang district, he said that the long felt construction work of the four lane NH 15 from Baihata Chariali to Mission Chariali would be commenced very soon while the construction work of the green byepass of NH 15 at Mangaldai would also be completed soon. He also appreciated the relentless effort and initiative of Darrang -Udalguri Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia towards the all round development of the district.
“It is the initiative of Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia that the Department of Post, Government of India has come forward to release a postage stamp on January 28 next on the historic ‘Krishak Vidroh’ at Pothorughat and the supreme sacrifice of the 140 Krishak Swahids, which for the first time in the country will grant national honour and recognition to the Krishak Vidroh and the 140 Krishak Swahids,” said legislator Basanta Das.
